WINGS for kids is an innovative non profit based in Charleston, South Carolina. WINGS is the only program of its kind in the US - an afterschool program teaching kids social and emotional skills. For the website redesign project they not only wanted to promote what they do and attract new donors, but they wanted to position themselves as thought leaders in social and emotional learning. The NoPo team worked closely with WINGS during the planning phase not only with keyword research and SEO consulting for content development, but with detailed wireframes mapping out each clickthrough pathway before any designs were ever presented. Here's a brief outline of the process:

Planning:

  • + Survey/interview
  • + Development of site map
  • + Keyword research
  • + Information architecture/wireframing

Design:

  • + NoPo presents three distinct design directions based on the wireframes
  • + After design reviews and final approval on home page, design is translated to all 2nd and 3rd level pages
  • + Design and production of custom graphics for each section of the site

Content development:

  • + SEO consulting with WINGS copywriter
  • + Writing custom META tags for each page of the site
  • + Blog consulting

Programming:

  • + Designs are coded into a custom Drupal theme
  • + Site is populated with content
  • + Training on the Drupal CMS is provided

In addition to maintaining the WINGS website and keeping it fresh, I do production on their montly eNewsletter "The New Smart." WINGS calls upon me on a frequent basis to design logos, microsites, email and brochures.
